Oakridge Country Club opened in 1957 in Farmington, in the strip of Davis County between the Wasatch and the Great Salt Lake. It is member-owned and has stayed that way, with a membership of roughly four hundred — small enough that the course is genuinely playable on a summer evening.
The design is credited to William F. Bell and William Neff, two names that between them account for a large share of the golf built in the Intermountain West in the post-war decades. What they left is a traditional parkland eighteen: 6,929 yards at par 72, tree-lined throughout, several holes with water in play and greens that are, almost without exception, well bunkered.
For a club of its size Oakridge has carried an outsized competitive load. The Utah Open, the Utah Championship and the Utah State Amateur have all been contested here — the kind of record that says more about a golf course than a rating does.
